Looking for UPS & other, Barcode reader soft for XP sp2 PC … I have a CueCat PS2 scanner already & I ….?

and I want to use it to catalog /inventory items in my home that have barcodes.

For instance – AND MOST IMPORTANT .. I want to inventory my kitchen… like all my food products. There is a very expensive software online called Kitchen Companion – well, I don’t have the money for that!! LOL … but I figure there is something else out there – somewhere that I can use WITH EASE.
Kitch. Compan. can actually read the UPC barcode that you scan into your PC and make lists for you and then inventory them and help you make grocery lists (if you scan milk in that you already have in inventory it will remove it if you rescan it as “done /used/depleted ” … so when the milk is gone it goes on a grocery list instead of kitchen inventory) … I found readerware softeware for books and CDs and stuff… but I want something for UPC barcodes… something EASY and user friendly – again – I am using the radioshack PS2 – :cuecat …

    What a good idea, we have so much lurking in the back of the pantry unused and forgotten! Another weird geeky project to scare my boyfriend with! haha

    Anyhoo here’s two resources I found that might help. The first is a downloadable program. The second is a site for configuring & customizing it. I found that the phrase “declaw cue cat” gave great results. Have fun! The things we go through to use a “free giveaway” item! haha
