Looking for work with an MBA and 5 years in retail and warehouse management experience.?

Hello everyone. I live in the Illinois area and have been laid off since May of this year and have been looking for work. I have applied to your most common job search engines, been working with recruiters and not much luck. Had a couple of interviews but the response is not enough experience or we are not hiring at this time. Does anyone have any advice or know of who is hiring? Should I be looking in another state or another country?

    You know, Safeway is always hiring people for management. In your area I think the stores are called Dominicks. Safeway knows that some of the best people out there have never worked for the company. They have programs for qualified people to enter. Check out the link below.     I don’t think it would hurt to start looking for a job in another state. I liked how you said “looking” though. I have heard of many people up and moving where they “think” the good jobs are. It can be hard to fly in or drive somewhere to schedule interviews in a long-distance place, but I do think that sometimes you have to go where the jobs are.

    I have been out of the work world for about four years now. I have done freelance writing online to make money. I am not sure how much things change, but I worked two positions as a retail store manager and an assistant manager at a local discount store and dollar store. I got the assistant manager position when I was 18 and I started out as a cashier. The management job I was hired originally as a temp working to help setup the new store. It may be a good idea to at least get your foot in the door and then wow them with your good work skills and ethics; it worked for me before.

    Also, I would like to recommend a software program I use. It is known as the JobFinder and you can learn more at http://www.MotionT.com. I like it because it searches hundreds of job sites for you – including the big ones like Monster and maybe some of your local ones. For me, it makes doing my daily job search less stressful because one search will search all of those websites, instead of having to keep doing the same searches just on different job search sites.
