    Well, I have come across a few printer/scanners that the manufactures just do not release drivers for the Mac. Most of the time OSX will pick up the driver automatically and be fine but on older and less-expensive devices can be problematic. Try going to the website of the scanner and see if they have a driver for your model that supports Mac, be sure to get the PPC or Intel (universal) version depending on what processor you. You can also try to add it manually going to system preferences > Printers, select more devices (or something like that) see if they have you device listed. Hope that helps……
