Package available (software and hardware), that scans barcodes and automatically displays product description?
I have a basement full of retail packaged computer products, and listing them for inventory or ebay purposes is cumbersome doing it one at a time manually. I am looking for a software/hardware package that allows me to scan the barcode on the box or package, and then automatically generates the product description/manufacturer etc. (I know books and cd’s do this automatically on half.com, so there must be some universal registry of bar coded products out there). I am not concerned with POS solutions, becuase I will be posting all products online, not at a brick and mortar establishment.

I would suggest contacting companies that you know already use barcodes and ask them to point you in the right direction.
