You assume with my presence
That I have been here before
Branding me a troublemaker
As I walk through that door.

You see me as one of them
Just another rebellious child
Ignorant to the rules
Untamed and buck wild.

You have thrown on this barcode
On the nape of my neck
You have given me this title
Of lacking self-respect.

Well for your information
Although it is none of your concern,
I have worked hard for what I have
Many lessons I have come to learn.

“You should die ‘because no one loves you”
Is the greeting I woke up to
No hugs or kisses ever shared
Only beatings did I go through.

You do not know what it is like
To walk the block in these sneakers
Where the ridicule was so loud
As though it was blasting through speakers.

Tossed around like some ragdoll
No one wanting to hold you close
Take a guess at how I am feeling
I dare you to propose

That the life that you have been leading
Is one far worse than my own
Dare to look me in the eyes
And tell me pain is all that you have known.

So throw this name tag on my shirt
And false judgement on there too
If you feel good casting me aside
Then it really must suck to be you
