Postmark date on presorted mail?
Postmark date on presorted mail?
Is there a way to prove when a presorted piece of mail was actually sent? There’s no standard postmark stamp, but can it be traced from the barcode that prints on the bottom of the envelope?

nope. the barcode on the botttom of the envelope is only the zipcode and telling the processing machine where that barcode needs to go.

When we send out presorted mail at work, we have to fill out a form for each flat/pallet. The mail is trackable (although we’re too cheap to pay for the service!) so yes, the barcode is tied to that particular mailing and its corresponding date.
I don’t know whom to contact to check on it, though, since we’ve never had to prove something got sent. Try emailing your postmaster?
