Print setup keeps changing to an old printer? ?
I have an HP Color Laser Jet 3600dn printer, and an HP Photosmart C3140 All-in-one scanner/printer, both hooked up to my computer at work. When I try to print, I often have to change the default printer from HP PSC 1600 (an old printer I no longer have), back to the 3600. How do I make it recognize the 3600 every time? What is changing it back to the 1600, and how do I make it stop?

I suspect that when you go to print from an application you’re selecting the printer each time. This is not setting it as your default permanently, but only temporarily while you have that application open. What you need to do is go into your Printers & Faxes settings and set the printer you want as the default printer.

Go to:
- Start
- Settings
- Printers and Faxes
- Right click on the printer name you want as your default and select “Select as Default Printer”

A little circle with a check mark should appear next to the icon to the right of the printer. Now whenever you print from an application it will be your default printer.
