Quickbooks – install info?

Hi – just want to know – have an acquaintance of mine that wants to sell a Quickbooks for cheap (she never wound up using it) – and says that she ripped off the UPC in order to get some sort of rebate – but one doesn’t need the UPC in order to install the program.

She says the box is a bit mangled but the CD is in good shape and it has some sort of registration code on the CD case. Is she right?
