scanner problem?
scanner problem?
i have a lexmark 1270 printer and scanner the printer works but the scanner doesnt every time i try to scan something the laser thing gets jam in the corner and it starts making a noise like tatatatata, what do you think the problem is. i have windows vista is that probably the problem
Best answer:
Sounds more like a hardware defect. The operating system wouldn’t make it go “tatatatata” and jam up. From the description, it sounds like a stripped gear.
If it’s fairly new, contact lexmark for a warranty replacement. If it’s out of warranty, consider using it just as a printer and getting a separate scanner.

Hi, the printer is operated separately to the scanner, from your symptoms the scanner is faulty as the laser is jammed as opposed to if it was a Vista incompatibility problem where the drivers would not have worked and there would be no connection from your pc to your printer/scanner at all.
If you got the printer/scanner with your Vista pc then it will still be in warranty due to Vista not being a year old – take it back if this is the case. But it is definitely not Vista causing this, operating systems can cause communication problems with printers/ scanners but can’t make them malfunction in this manner.
