Should I apply some thermal compound to my PS3 CPU and GPU.?

I was looking on-line and I’ve seen many suggestions stating that it is a good idea to replace the cheap thermal compound Sony gives in it’s PS3′s with higher quality “Arctic Ice”. Since my warranty void sticker has already been removed is it worth replacing the compound, I have already opened my PS3 to carry out a laser repair.

Will it help protect against the yellow light of death?

ive seen it done and heard it is a good idea just don’t use arctic ice because it conducts electricity and it could screw up your ps3 use use something like tuniq tx-4 it is better and cooler than arctic silver or any other ones out there
