Showing an altered female Ragdoll in TICA HHP class?
Showing an altered female Ragdoll in TICA HHP class?
Hi All,
I have a six month old altered female ragdoll (TICA registered) that I am interested in showing in the TICA HHP division just as a hobby. I am wondering if anyone out there does this and has any pointers on how to get started? Also, how do I know if my kitty is close enough to the standard to be able to compete? She is a pet quality ragdoll (but still beautiful) after all.
Thanks!
So should I show in an alter class instead of hhp if my ragdoll is a registered purebred?

I don’t think cats in the HHP class are compared to any breed standards since most don’t even have a breed. According to TICA’s website, “HHPs are judged primarily on condition, beauty, and show presence. ”

I personally don’t know too much about showing in the HHP class, but one of my contacts has tons of experience doing this, so I’ll star for you.

First I would contact the breeder you bought your Raggy from. They would know if the quality is good enough to be in the Championship Altered classes.
Altered classes are sometimes more competitive and the quality is better then in the whole cat championship classes! So you would need a “show quality” cat to compete in the alter classes.
If you bought your cat as a pet quality, then you can show them in the HHP classes. I would contact TICA and ask them about what you need to do if your cat has registration papers now.
And I would attend a TICA show first to see what goes on and talk to other HHP people or the show committee people as to what you need for showing.

Hi there,
Most people do show cats as a hobby, even in championship classes. If you want to show her in HHP, as she is pet quality, you would not have to use registration information on your entry. Just show her without any further ado.
When you show her, you can, of course, ask the judges their opinion if they consider her to be meet the standard of a championship class in the altered division. A long time ago, many altered cats were in competition that were not quite as “typey” as those entered in regular championship, but today that is not the case. There are really magnificent cats competing that were altered for many different reasons.
So I would recommend you showing her in Household Pets.

Once you get your entry registration from the show sectetary, you can call and ask exactly what to bring with you. In CFA shows, there are curtains and small rugs for the bottom of the benching cages that folks bring. You should also bring the brand of food she prefers, a jar of baby food, just in case she is not eating, and I bring my own food and water dishes.
Visit the TICA site

Go to the show schedule area:

Look for a local show and call the entry clerk.
That is how to start.
Hope this helps and good luck in showing. Cat shows are a lot of fun and you will get to meet some really great people.
