Sporadic “cannot find server” message with wireless router?
I installed a D-Link WBR-2310 wireless router a few weeks ago and it worked perfectly, until a week ago. Since I am gone for several days at a time, I always turn everything off when I leave. Last week, I came home and was not able to connect to the Internet, no matter how many times I switched everything off and back on again. Then I discovered that my Trend-Micro virus scanner had blocked the Internet traffic. Evidently in an attempt to block a virus. I scanned for one, but was not able to locate one. After switching the “Halt Internet Traffic” off, I was able to connect to the Internet, but now about every 3rd URL change, I get “Cannot Find Server”. The strength is excellent, as I am only about 6 feet from the router now. Oh, and the cable company came out and verified that the signal from them is good. Any help would be appreciated.
Actually it says “Server not found” now, but I remember “Cannot find server” as well, if it makes a difference.
Best answer:
try uninstalling trendmicro and its firewall first.
if it works fine then you’ve found the culprit.
you have to set the firewall of trendmicro properly to trust your router.
