Stand alone handheld scanner?
To help me do research I´m searching for a stand alone handheld scanner I can take with me to libraries and scan text from books/magazines, save and later load into and read on my computer. The only ones I´ve found either require me to bring a labtop along or only scan one line at a time (so called pen scanners), do you know about some gadget that resembles my description?

Here’s something that’s worked for for thousands of people every year: the photocopier.

This looks like what you’re describing.

From the makers of the PrintStik.
They still consider it a pen scanner, but it’s way different from others.
There’s a small flash video in that page that shows you how it’s used.
It also comes with an MicroSD expansion slot so you can add more memory.
Downside, it’s pretty expensive, and image scan quality isn’t too impressive.
Plain text shouldn’t be a problem though.
Personally, I share knowguy’s sentiments. But this seems like a pretty nifty tool.
