That’s not all, they’ve “lost” GPS, scanners…even cars!!
This is obscene…and yet there are still those who say that government will be good at running heath care?
Can you tell me how letting govt run health care will be BETTER for us?
excerpt…
New documents reveal that the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) continues to lose hundreds of computers per year. At least one DHS component agency maintains that the losses fall within accepted accounting standards.
In fiscal year 2008, inventories of lost, stolen, and damaged equipment show that Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and Customs and Border Protection (CBP) combined to lose no fewer than 985 computers. Meanwhile, the lost, stolen and damaged report for ICE shows 13 vehicles classified as “lost” or “not found during physical inventory.”
CBP’s total inventory (immediately below) of lost stolen and damaged equipment tallies 1,975 pieces at a total valuation of .5 million.

Jay: the right wing, NEVER trusted Bush, (ok, maybe when he was first elected for a couple years)
But, as it became apparent that he was NO conservative, like he claimed, his support among conservatives dropped to all time lows, why don’t you actually check things out instead of spew the hateful vitriol from the left, for a change.
Israel: If a private company loses things, THEY are responsible for the cost of replacement, not the US taxpayer..how can you fail so hard at seeing the difference?
Best answer:
They won’t. It will become the same unefficient, money waisting burocracy that other government run systyems have become.

The saddest part of it all is that those in charge of those computers are your brethren – Americans.
Now we can explain GM.

Look at the number of guns, ammunition and the amount of explosives that went missing in Iraq after the invasion. And several tens of billions of dollars went missing too, sometimes whole suitcases of money just vanished…
Yet the right-wing trusted the Bush mal-administration.

for your information the homeland security is different function of the health care that do you want to tackle, the 1000computers lost in homeland security departments nothing to do to the health departments,

It won’t.
The one item so many do not know or just will not accept is that the US government CANNOT run anything well. The waste, the fraud, the inefficiency & cheating. It’s rampant in every program. I’ve consulted to several federal & state agencies. It’s terrible what goes on.

people do like to take things home from the office sometimes. things can only get worse and health care will be no different

I’m sure that the vast majority of the “Lost” equipment has more to do with corruption, than incompetence. This is especially true in Law Enforcement Agencies like ICE,DEA,etc where the corruption of its agents is off the charts.

Any Department is only as good as it’s leader and Janet Napolitano is a mess. She’s not qualified for the job as we all know by the way she handled the Detroit plane bomber. Obama needs to get rid of her.

Remember Obama was going to help cure Obamacare’s $ shortfall eliminating waste.
Of course, that begs the quetion why hasn’t it been done before.
