Vista crashes, barcode of colors..can’t even start laptop.?

I have a vista laptop. I don’t know what happened to it, but it started to crash randomly. Like it started every few hours, then soon it crashed every few minutes. When it crashes, there are bars of color…like the colors are arranged like a bar-code. Then it just freezes, and the only way to work the laptop is to manually restart (holding down the power button 5-10 seconds). My father told me that what might be causing the problem is the vista service pack 2. So I uninstalled that…but after I did that, it started to crash even more frequently. Now..I can’t even restart the computer. I press the button to turn the computer on, and the bar-code of colors immediately show up..the computer can’t even get to the user/password screen. I wanted to reformat the hard-drive since I really don’t know what to do..but I seem to not be able to do even that, because the laptop won’t start!

Does anyone know what I should do?

Oh and I have a XPS Dell M1330 laptop.

Your video card is defective. It’s a known issue with the M1330′s and Dell has extended the warranty an extra year on that model as well as others with the GeForce 7400 video card, which is the cause of the problem.

Check my source for more info — give Dell a call and if you’re out of the extra year warranty, I’ll bet if you complain about it enough, they’ll fix it for you anyway~
