We need barcode for our products?

Hi there, i have been looking to a lot of websites, each with different prices… is there any official office where people can go and register their barcode directly? or what would be your recommendation? i live in Rhode Island.\

    for product producers, bar code is outsourced services economically available by specialists.
    if you do yourself, it will cost you more.
    if your business is connected with groceries like thing there are lot of of ff-the-shelf services/packages are available which are dead-cheaper.

    It looks like it depends on whether you just need 1 – then the place that charges $89 looks good – or more – then the place that charges a one-time setup with a per-code charge after that looks good. All of them say they will email you a UPC you can print from home or incorporate into artwork/packaging, or you can order labels. Sorry, none are free from what I see.
