What are some software that creates UPC labels for my product I created?

I’m starting up a business and I need to know what software is available to printout UPC labels onto my products. I’m trying to get my product looking as professional as possible. Also, I’m getting my product copywritten,(My product is literature by the way), do I need to have the UPC created onto the product before I send it off to be copywritten or can I do this afterwards if I want to?

    You can’t just go putting random UPC labels onto your products. UPC’s are registered to specific companies through Global Synchronization. My company uses a third party, 1Sync. (1sync.ontuet.com/).
    A UPC is broken down into parts. the first 2 digits are the country code of the company owning the rights to the UPC. For the US that is 00. The next 6 digits are the registration code for the company owning the UPC. The next 5 digits are the product ID number and the last digit is the check digit, which is mathematically generated by the sum of all of the preceding digits. That formula will be supplied by your UPC registration company, be it 1Sync or some other company,
    If your only purpose is to make your product seem more professional or legitimate, you should do that by making the packaging as attractive and professional as possible. If you were to inadvertently use a UPC that belongs to another company, you could be facing a substantial lawsuit. I am sure you don’t want that.
    If you are planning to sell your products to any major retailer, like Walmart, Target, Lowes, Sears, etc, you will eventually have to register your company and get your own UPC’s. But, until that happens it doesn’t make financial sense to go that route.
