What are the “Perfect Collection” DVDs bootlegs?
What are the “Perfect Collection” DVDs bootlegs?
I love anime and I try my best to get a good deal while at the same time supporting the artist. I have noticed that anime collection sets sold in “Perfect Collection” tend to be half the price of the regular American release (sometimes more than half). I only bought one such collection (Chobits, luffles it much).
I was told it was not a bootleg but an import. It looked very professional and I figured it was legit (had a barcode and the art was very very pretty on the cover and the discs themselves), but in the back of my mind I’m still wondering. Are those DVD collections very high quaility bootlegs or not?
If they are bootlegs, then thanks for telling me the truth (any and all of you), and I will know not to get one ever again. If they are legit, that will make me very happy since they usually cost less cause they contain more episodes per disc.

I bought a “perfect collection” Saiyuki dvd about 2 years ago not knowing it was a bootleg. By then it was too late. The DVD was so messed up and the quality was poor. I should have known better.
Here is a great website that explains about anime bootlegging.
