Most printers are multi function these days with scanners built in.
The single use dedicated scanner is almost dead.
For $200 you could get almost any Canon printer scanner.

That being said, I have had good luck with Canon scanners.
I have scanners still working that are 5 years old and more.

Read the reviews at Amazon and pick the scanner that suits your needs.
It is much the software as it is the hardware with scanners.

    hi,

the best PC scanner under $200 for inputting pix and negatives is now “Canon EOS 1000D / 550D – 300D”

its the best now in your budget.

    thanks

You are right about canon scanner, they are great. I would recommend the Canon CanoScan 8800F (check link below), this canon scanner has everything you need in a scanner.

You can even scan color films and negatives.

It has a very high scan quality. The speed is surprisingly fast and basically everything about it is outstanding. Im pretty sure you will love the design as well.

You can read all the great comments it has gotten in the link below. Good luck.
