What device do I need for wireless connectivity?
I have a 2Wire DSL modem/wired and wireless (g/b) router in the office connected to my computer. In the other room I have a desktop and better printer/scanner. I want computer in the other room to connect to the internet and I want to be able to print on the better printer from the office. Is it a wireless switch I need? Suggestions?

Best answer:

Does the computer / printer you want to be on wireless have a wireless card? If the printer is not a stand-alone (as in doesn’t have a self sufficient CPU on it to receive requests on it’s own) then you can’t. You can hook it (supposedly, never done it) to your router to print that way.

What I did was hooked the printer to the computer on the network that is on all the time… set it to be a shared option, now I can print from any computer in the house to that printer (even from wireless computer).

If the computer you want to be wireless doesn’t have a wireless card you can purchase one and install it yourself, or if you don’t know enough take it into a geek squad (or something similar) and have them install it for you :)
