What do you think about the military/industrial complex that Eisenhower warned us about?

When some one wants to reduce spending on the military, they get labeled as weak and someone without a plan for a more secured country. Yet Roosevelt said to “Speak softly and carry a big stick”. President Eisenhower stated in his farewell address about a M-I-C threat. What impact do they have on today, like the Iraq and Afghanistan wars.

    I’ve always said that Bush spoke loudly and carried a small stick.

    As to the MIC, I’m afraid things have only gotten worse since Eisenhower’s day. The money we waste on weapons we’re never going to use is mind boggling. We need more of the unglamorous stuff.

    Well I have a lot of money in Boeing, but Cramer says its the worst stock of 2009. It’s military and it’s industrial and it doesn’t seem like it rules.

    It imploded and now the citizens and the world will suffer for it as soon as Bush’s Saudi puppeteers pull away the dollars when Obama takes office.

    People who call me weak often don’t realize their appeal to being excessive.

    The US currently accounts for 48% of global military spending. I think we safely scale back on military spending, even now. The US is having trouble catching men living in caves, yet some people want to continue in this groove of perversity with more funding.

    It was one of the most astute observations ever made in American history and the fact that it came from such a great leader as Eisenhower gave it true moral authority.
    The sad thing is that many of today’s leaders barely acknowledge it and most of the population doesn’t understand it.

    We started doing what he warned about almost immediately. We are the biggest arms dealer on the planet.

    biggest criminal enterprise in the nation right now. with the prison industrial complex coming in at a close second.
