What do you think of this look for invitations? Using many small stamps.?

I was looking at stamps for my wedding invitations. I do not like those custom ones you can get online, the barcode part bothers me and they are expensive. I not in love with the wedding stamps usps sells although that might be what I end up using. I saw this http://www.marthastewartweddings.com/portal/site/ww/menuitem.460039687ea4fc3df8aeef105173a0a0/?vgnextoid=f389cdd7d7a91110VgnVCM1000003d370a0aRCRD&vgnextfmt=default and though the one on the bottom right was cool. Those are all current stamps in just really low denominations. My wedding has a slightly vintage theme to it, not to much just matches the venue, and I though that could work. But I wanted some opinions. If you got that in the mail would you think wow that is neat or wonder if I did not understand how postage works?
One think I really like about it is that it would not cost any extra then regular postage, maybe a couple dollars total but nothing major.

In the UK you can get what they call “smilers” from Royal Mail. You can upload your own photo, and they print off little stickers you can put next to the stamps.

I thought about this, but they cost a lot (around £40/$80 for 100) so I ended up getting 250 return address labels printed from http://vistaprint.com with our photo and our wedding date, which we designed using Photoshop and then uploaded to Vistaprint. The stickers are about 5cm x 1.5cm. The photo upload charge, printing and delivery,of the labels only cost about £7 ($14), and they arrived in 2wks.

Unfortunately, all the hard work you going to put on the stamps will not be worth it, people are just going to throw the it away. Plan B, how about buying stamps with wedding bells on them?

As a guest, I’d probably say, “Oh, that’s cute and clever.”

But if it’s a hassle or a big expense to get them, I’d just suck it up and use the regular USPS stamps (whether they’re wedding-themed or not). Really, people aren’t going to notice the postage stamps, so it’s not worth any extra time or money.

If it’s easy to do and if it wouldn’t cost you any more than regular stamps would, go for it.

It’s interesting, but not so cute that I would spend a lot of extra money on the postage. I like the look of one elegant stamp.

I love the idea – They make the postage look like part of the invitation rather than just being utilitarian. Very pretty…

to be honest i would think that you did not understand how postage work or that you are trying to use up old stamps you had. I would not care though.

    No, it’s not ‘neat’.
Just don’t bother. People do not notice the postage – they want to see what’s inside the envelope.
