What does the cash register do for the cashier?
What does the cash register do for the cashier?
Basically, what does a cashier do besides ring things up and give ppl change?…
Does the cashier actually have to use math or does the cash register do it all?

It depends on where you work and what kind of register it is, but generally once you put in how much money is paid by the customer the register will tell you how much cash they get back. You’ll be doing math by counting out the change, but that’s really all that there is to do.

Sad but true….they don’t have to know how to count out change or how to count back when making change. God forbid when they accidentally close the drawer before grabbing change, you have to stand there and watch them figure it out I generally will just tell them how much. I give up on trying to teach anyone how to do it. Seems like a lost art.
