A “Direct Thermal Label” is a label or media type that is used in thermal printers (Zebra and Datamax are a couple of many manufacturers that manufacture thermal printers) to create labels for a variety or purposes. Direct thermal media is designed to print without use of a ribbon or ink but create the image solely by heat by turning the media black where heat is applied. A “Direct Thermal Label” is not required to print for shipping labels normally, unless the program being used is very limited to a specific printer. Usually shipping labels can be printed out using most any printer, it just needs to be setup.
Best of luck.
