What is “historical perspective?”?
I am writing a roman numeral sentence outline for a rather large school project. In the first roman numeral, I am supposed to have a sub topic about the historical perspective of my topic (how barcodes have changed industry), and I don’t understand what is being asked of me. Help?

It is the past perspective of the industry on bar codes. How did industries view bar codes when they first came out or when they were barely out or over time how have they been viewed?

in addition to the above, what was used before bar codes, and how did bar codes change the way items are sold? remember that bar codes handle not only sales, but quantities, stocking, inventory, and act as customer feedback for marketing.
before? one item @ .$14. or maybe one coat (blue) @ $25.00 not much more information.
