What is the barcode scanning thing for smartphones?
Just wondering what is that thing where you can scan the weird barcode thing with your smartphone and it’s supposed to mean something? Also is there an app for iPhone to scan it?

Its been used quite widely in japan for several years now and to put it simply it tells you various info on the product you’re scanning.
I’m not sure about the app to scan it but I recently saw it being advertised in an electronics store flyer about smart phones being able to do it so I assume so.
