What is the best handheld vacuum to suck up pet hair on my furniture?

My regular vacuum cleaner doesn’t extend as far as I want it to when I vacuum my couch, and it’s been REALLY frustrating for me. So I’m thinking that a dustbuster/handheld vacuum will work better.

The best thing for pet hair is actually a pet hair brush, which has small rubber bristles. This rakes up the hair pretty well and clumps it, so you can just grab it and remove it. You can then come by later with a regular vacuum if you want. Most hand held vacuums (like a Dust Buster or whatever) are too weak to effectively pick up pet hair. Even most full size vacuums aren’t very effective at picking up pet hair on certain fabrics, like tweeds.

Try putting on a pair of clean/new rubber dish gloves. If your furniture is not “delicate” you can wet the gloves slightly. Run your hand over the cushions…it will ball up the animal hair.

Similar idea to the latex gloves, except that I use a lightly moistened thick paper towel and wipe gently over the couch. Throw paper towel laden with pet hair, and start with a new paper towel.

Even better yet, use wet spot cleaning towel from Lysol or other brand

You can make a roll, around your hand, of masking tape and pick up the hair.

I have a Bissell vacuum cleaner made to pick up pet hair. You can get them from Walmart for around $130.00.

They are great. It is the one made to pick up pet hair, not the one made to kill pet odors.

Hand held vacuums are too weak to pick up the hair.
