What is the best POS System for small retail store?
I work for a small retail store. Currently, all items are entered into the register the old fashioned way by manually typing in the price and a product category button. Nothing in the store has barcodes/upc codes. We’d like to modernize and get a POS System. What all is involved in converting to a POS System? How do you create, assign and print barcodes to products so that they will work with the POS System? In your experience what are the best/worst POS Systems and Software on the market for a retail store?

Many of today’s POS Systems allow you to use either the manufacturer’s bar codes, or, create bar codes for products that do not already have one. Also, when converting to a new system, most companies will have an option to import existing products through Excel Spreadsheets.
I would like to recommend Retail Point of Sale software from Business Software Solutions. The software allows you to use bar codes to ring up items, and, they have a full business/accounting package with over 260 reports to keep track of sales, inventory, etc. It also has an additional import utility to allow you to take existing products and import them into the system.
