What kind of handheld scanner do I need to listen to the police, fire and ambulance channels in Nashville, TN?

What kind of handheld scanner do I need to listen to the police, fire and ambulance channels in Nashville, TN?
Thanks.

Best answer:

go to a radio specialty store, and first go thru their guide on publicly used frequencies. Then, armed with this information, look for a scanner that has that frequency range that you are requiring.

Hope this helps. Best of luck in your search.

Radio Shack, Best Buy, Fry electronics or many online catalogs carry scanners. Spme will even have a list of freq. used in major cities. I know that is on the web somewhere as well. Scanners come in a wide range of prices with hand helds costing a little more than table top models.
