What kind of smart phone should I get?
The provider does not matter for now, I just want a phone that has a web browser, text, and a video camera.
Oh yeah, one of those bar code scanners would be sweet, too. :)

Pros to the G1: it has the built in barcode scanner. In reality, the G1 is not as responsive as the iPhone is and the support is not as good as iPhone.
Depends on what you want more in a phone. Response Time and good support, or a replica phone with poor responce time with a few added extras.
I am say iPhone, iPhone is still the hottest item on the market because its 3G capabilities and constant updates and features being added.

Let me just tell you that I had an unlocked iphone, a G1, and a blackberry. I tried all of them out and I used them for a long period of time. The best out of all them is the blackberry. The G1′s lack of a standard headphone jack was really annoying and I really didn’t care for the browser. I always ended up clicking the wrong links by accident because my fingers were too big. I also didn’t like the fact that it froze two times a day. I kept having to take the battery out. I didn’t like the iphone because I hated being tied to itunes. I ended up losing all of my songs when I synced it with my laptop. I also didn’t like the fact that I needed to unlock my phone to get video when the phone was more than capable of recording video. I really don’t understand why mac would make the phone without video. The plan is also ridiculous. I think it’s like 100 dollars a month for the iphone on the most basic plan. I really don’t have any complaints with the blackberry. The internet browser is really underrated. I actually like the pointer more than the touch screen on the iphone because it’s more accurate. My suggestion is to get the 8900 with tmobile. Unlimited texting, internet, and email is only 35 a month. It doesn’t have 3g but who cares? Get the bold if you want to use ATT. I haven’t heard good things about the storm with Verizon but I’m sure it’s a good phone because blackberry makes it.
