what printer should i get?
what printer should i get?
i don’t know much about printers but i need a good printer/fax/copier/scanner that doesn’t use a lot of ink. i’ve heard of inkjets, laser etc. anybody know a good model or something thats no more than 0
Best answer:
Need some more info , do you want an all in one, scanner , printer and fax? Do you need or want color, do you prefer inkjet or toner? Lately for all in ones , ive been recommending the lexmark line, they are pretty neat. Also some printers have feature for reading memory cards through them or usb ports build in to ready cameras. check out tigerdirect.com and look around see if anything catches your eye.

Canon is my choice for inkjets. I suggest a Canon Pixma MX700 multifunction printer.
Canon Pixma ink cartridges have a printhead in each new cartridge. Many inkjet printers become unusable after a year or two because their printheads get clogged up. With a new printhead on each cartridge you won’t encounter such a problem.
Canon printers use straight paper feeding which means you can use thicker paper, even cardboard. Many HP printers use platen (U-Turn) feeding which means you can’t use thick paper on them because it will cause paper jams. It’s useful to print on thick paper or board sometimes (e.g. photo paper is thick).
Epson and HP print cartridges have computer chips to monitor ink levels but are actually a sneaky way to prevent you from refilling ink. Ink cartridges cost an arm and a leg so refilling is a good idea. You can refill Canon ink cartridges because you’re not worried about clogged-up printheads. If things go wrong during or after refilling just chuck the old cartridge and buy a new one. No harm done.
Epson printheads are built into the printer itself. You can change ink cartridges but the printhead is permanent so it is getting older and more clogged up all the time, so Epsons fail sooner than other brands like Canon with replaceable printheads.
Unfortunately, Color Laser printers are still too expensive and maybe out of your budget.

I really like the canons that take the PGI 5 and cli 8s; they are efficient, cheap to replace and have good photo capability.
Don’t get the printers that have a tri colour (where colous are in one tank), it’s poor efficiency
I have attached a review on the Canon MX 700.

I am sure that you could source it for your price point. Check out staticice.com.au
Be aware that all the prices on static ice generally have freight on top of that.
Enjoy!
It retails for about $270 or less.
