What will remove the barcode sticker from a fine piece of wood (plywood) so it will take the stain?

What will remove the barcode sticker from a fine piece of wood (plywood) so it will take the stain?
When building shelving, I need to know what will remove the barcode sticker so that it will take the stain on a fine grade plywood?

Best answer:

If you mean the residue left by the glue then try lighter fluid and a soft cloth. If that doesn’t get it try fine wire wool.

I don’t know why they do that.
DON’T use anything oil- based. (I know somebody is going to say WD-40. It’s like a disease.) If the sticker is one of those glossy types, you may need to sand with some 150 or 220 grit sandpaper. Finish removing the sticker with denatured alcohol and nothing else. Let the wood dry and sand the area again, as well as the entire sheet lightly to remove raised grain.

You are going to have to scrape it off. Then sand the whole board (as the color of the wood under the sticker is probably lighter than the rest of the board) Use a piece of 2×4 as a block and 100 to 120 grit sandpaper and go to it.
Yeah, I get ticked off too when that happens. Usually the carpenter sees it and tries to put it into an unseen area. Sometimes I think they use a belt sander or mouse to sand it away.
