Whats the best way to put names on clothes?

The clothes go though industrial washers and dryers about twice a week and laundry pen only seems to last 2 weeks and iron on labels seems to come off in the dryers.

You can get fabric paper that irons on to other fabrics. You pop it into a regular printer, print the names, letters etc you want, hit print, cut the pieces out and iron them on to tags, the inside of collars etc. My mom did this for some of my things when I was going away to school – I think she bought the supplies at AC Moore or another chain craft store like that. Some of my wash cloths STILL have my initials on them…..from 8 years ago :)

I ordered iron-on tape with my daughter’s name printed. The tags lasted a long time. I just sent her a blanket that I made when she was in day care. She now has a baby boy with a Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (girlie) blanket and her little iron-on label.

Check the craft stores, because they sell laundry marking pens. I just felt that the iron on tapes were less invasive, in the event that I gave her clothes away. As a thrifty mother, I reused the tags for a second use by sewing them on another garment.

Use a permanent marker and write on the tag. If there is no tag, write carefully on the inside hem of the clothes (so that it does not leak through).
