When you steal an item with a barcode…?
Let’s say were at target and we steal something with a barcode.
Will the alarm sound Because the stolen item has the barcode?
Can a stolen item make the alarm ring without a security device?
Im not planning on stealing!I’m just wondering.

It’s the security devices, not the barcodes themselves. The barcodes are just lines of ink on paper for the register to scan. Video and alert employees are helpful too – you’d be amazed at the number of people who get arrested ripping packages open and stuffing the contents down their pants because they think that nobody will notice if the door doesn’t go off. Especially large groups of teenagers who do this and don’t think this behvaior attracts attention.
