Where can I get info on Pocket Access Database?
I need to collect data by a portable scanner and place it to my computer / network. I am trying to use a Intermec CK 31 scanner for barcodes / inventory (like a PDA w/ scanner), but believe i need something like pocket access.

I cannot find that online. Nor on Microsoft’s website.

Please let me know if I can do such a thing. I found some software info like DDH Software, HanDBase, Pocketsoft, abcDB, Software 4 CE HandyDB. Do I need to buy that instead? Please let me know on how to approach this issue.

Your scanner should output data into ASCII format into any application – so pocket excel should do the trick for capturing the information. You can then transfer that information when you sync your pda and populate whatever database you are using on your PC.

Consequently – the scanner reads the barcode directly into a cell in the excel spreadsheet on the pda. You then will sync your device, and then have the database you are working from import the data you just uploaded from your pocket pc.
