Will post office reject a 1st class mail envelope with delivery confirmation?
Will post office reject a 1st class mail envelope with delivery confirmation?
I didn’t know that USPS does not do delivery confirmation on 1st class mail unless it is a box or parcel. I simply put a delivery confirmation barcode sticker on a standard size envelope with .00 postage. (I didn’t know how much it was gonna cost). I dropped it off in a USPS mailbox.
My question is will USPS still deliver this mail and I will simply not have delivery confirmation or will they reject this mail and return it back to me?
Thanks

They will probably deliver it as a regular first class letter.
It was nice of you to support the Post Office by putting on so much extra postage.

Yes it will be delivered. All 1st class mail is delivered as long as the address is correct. You just wasted about $7 though.

There’s a good chance it will be scanned. We are trained to scan those barcodes. Accepting them into the system is not part of carrier work, so once they’re in, they get scanned.
It might not show up on the tracking information, though. Sometimes we get an ‘invalid barcode’ message on our scanners when we scan an item. If you just slapped a sticker on there and it went directly into the mailstream, no clerk ever touched it or entered that number into the system.
We still deliver the items, though. So it’ll get there.
