Wireless Networking Problem?
I have a wireless router connected and for some reason, I can’t seem to find the wireless connection. My setup is as follows:
1.) I have a coaxial cable running from my satellite to the satellite modem.
2.) I have an ethernet cable running from the modem to the router.
3.) I have an ethernet cable running from the router to my computer.
4.)I have internet connectivity on my computer, but my Nintendo Wii and my PocketPC with a WiFi scanner do not pick up any signal whatsoever coming from the modem.
5.) I’m running on Channel 11, No Encryption. I’ve played with most settings under the Router’s IP address (such as changing SSID, channel, and encryption types) but I still can’t seem to get any wireless service.
6.) The light on the router indicates there is wireless service.
Best answer:
1) step 4 is wrong. your other crap must get wireless signal from your ROUTER, not your modem.
2) hardware reset your router
3) turn off all encryption on the router
4) we’re assuming you’re using a WIRELESS ROUTER with UPDATED firmware.
