How to install a barcode scanner to a web based application?
I need to install this Wasp WWS850 Wireless Barcode Scanner to a computer and would like to know, once it is installed, how do you go about and make this scanner communicate to our web based application….?

I got this reply from the web base software company:

“If you can scan the card to a notepad, you can use the scanner to our application”.

I have no clue how to do this, does anybody know???

Best answer:

Well, there are different ways of tackling this problem. But this one is rather straightforward. This is the simpler of the two ways to achieve client side device communication. The web application could prompt you to scan the requisite barcode and an ISBN index would be inherited from the device. Then, depending on how the barcode’s drivers are, the number could be put in a URL of a struts-based (struts.apache.org) web application which would allow for parsing of the URL in order to get the ISBN into a manipulatable state for the application by placing it into a variable. Then from there, the application can take care of the rest and hyperlink to a page with the product allocated by the barcode’s ISBN.*phew*
