what are better police scanners? mobile or handheld?
i would like to know if mobile or handheld police scanners are the best?
if it is handheld would a mobile magnet mount antenna get me better reception?
and do handheld scanners have that thing in them that when i travel city to city it will pick up that area?
Best answer:
A handheld is very convenient over a desktop/mobile. But, you usually get better performance with a mobile. A mobile magnet mount will always give you better reception, especially if you get an antenna specifically tuned to the frequency band you are monitoring. A handheld scanner comes with a very basic and general antenna, but you can attach a magnet mount antenna to a handheld!
visit scannermaster.com and look at their antennas.
A handheld will often have a BNC connection for their antenna and you can get magnet mounts with BNC connectivity. Same thing applies with most mobile scanners.

which radio scanner is better a handheld or base?
I belive this is a ham radio if not sorry for misinterpretation anyway I want to buy a radio scanner but not sure which is better a handheld or base scanner??
here are the 2 i am thinking about buying:
radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3132685
radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2973252
I would prefer to have a portable scanner but i mostly want to know which one is better. please give some kind of explanation why one is better than the other or why the equal quality. also if you perhaps have a better scanner in mind please post buying link to it thanks alot.
Best answer:
The base scanner has more functionality (scans for local transmissions within 1000 feet, so you may be able to hear private conversations). What the portable scanner lacks in functionality, it makes up for with portability.

Which is better, Dell Wireless All-In-One Printer 966 or the Brother Network-Ready Multifunction Printer?
I was thinking of getting the Dell Wireless All-In-One Printer 966 or the Brother Network-Ready Multifunction Printer/ Copier/ Scanner/ Fax/ PhotoCapture Center. But I dont know which one is better. Can you tell me what you think of the two printers, and if you have one can you tell me your review about how easy, hard, it is, and the problems. I want one that is wireless for my Dell XPS M1710, and one that it good for printing, coping, and scanning, and I will use it for small buisness, so also a fax machine. And you can also suggest other printers that are under 0. Can you please answer this. Thanks, Parth
Best answer:
I had a dell printer and it was complete crap. It broke after less than one year, and the cartridges cost a buttload of money. I would avoid Dell printers at all costs. They are way more trouble than they are worth.
Sorry I can’t be more help.

is it better to buy hp injet or a laser jet both price wise and performance wise for home use?
i want to buy the all in one package from hp(printer, copier, fax and scanner) but ppl say the printer is inkjet so what shall i do?
Best answer:
Inkjet printers a usually sufficient for home use. While laser printers offer better print quality, they are typically more expensive to buy and maintain (i.e. toner).

how would barcode scanner be better then manual stock taking?
barcode scanner was rather expensive. if you add all the installation, mantiancement, the knowlegde and all. on the pro side, it is fast and almost no-mistake.
manual stock taking is cheaper and computer knowledge not a real requirement. but it error-prone, take longer time and such.
but do barcode scanner really worth it price for inventory purpose?
Best answer:
Depends on how big your inventory is, of course. It’s different on a case to case basis.
In a small variety store, probably not worth the effort o keep track of every piece of inventory. However, for something that requires frequent restock, like hardware store, or online sale, then you really *do* need to know how much inventory you have exactly at any time, then barcodes are almost a necessity.

What scanner technology is better and why? CCD or CIS?
I need to buy a new scanner to scan mostly photos and negatives and I can’t find a real explanation on which technology is the best, thanks!
Best answer:
Both CCD and CIS have advantages and disadvantages. the following likes should provide some good insight.
