why do we use the dewey decimal system as opposed to simply labeling books by section and author?
My library has 2 sections fiction and nonfiction and there’s no alphabetical system. Whenever I’m looking for a book I have to go to the back of are library and get somebody to look it up.Why is this convenient? Why can’t they just arrange by section and save everybody some time?

How are RFID tags inserted into books?
I was always wondering how and where they insert the RFID tag into books, without making any visible damage. I was also trying to locate it on many different books from the library with no success.
No, I am not trying to remove them or anything, it’s just interesting.

Can you recommend any adult books for me?
I want to start moving out of the young adult section and reading some good adult books. I only like fiction. I really like fantasy/supernatural stuff/suspense/thriller/crime/etc.
My favorite book of all time is A Dirty Job by Christoper Moore. (I’ve read his other books as well, I dont like any of them as well as ADJ)
I also like
-The Dexter Series
-The Host by Stephine Myer
-Anne Rice books
-Silence of the Lambs
-Wicked
-some Stephen King books
And some of my favorite teen books just so you can get an idea of what I like
(In no real order) and there is a lot more these are just a few that come into my head.
-Dreadful Sorry
-Hero
-Blue Bloods
-The Barcode Tattoo
-Candy
-Magic or Madness
-Harry Potter
-Twilight Series (I know I know! DONT JUDGE ME! lol)
And if you think of any books in general even if they are young adult go ahead and list them anyway! THANKS!

Does removing rfid tags from library books allow for theft?
Hi, I work at my school library and we are currently having a problem with stolen library books. We are wondering how this is happening, as there is only one entrance/exit to the library and no one has noticed kids holding books above their heads as they walk out. One thing we are wondering is whether kids are removing the RFID tags from our books and leaving them somewhere in library, then simply walking out with the book in a bag. Is this possible? If not, what could be the explanation for our problem?

Returning books back to Borders without barcode sticker?
I wanted to return two books back to Borders this week, but I ripped off the stickers on the back that have the barcode on it and everything. Will I be able to return them still and get my full money back, or will they only give me store credit ’cause the stickers are gone..? I do have my receipt by the way.

Where can I buy a scanner for books?
We saw someone in a thrift store using a handheld scanner of some kind to check the ISBNs of books to ascertain their value. I don’t know if this is linked in with Amazon or what. I’ve been searching online but can’t find anything quite like this. If anyone could point me to a website it would be greatly appreciated!
