How accurate is nutrition information on product labels?
How do they figure out how many calories are in a product? Is that something that’s very accurate, or is it more of an estimate? Also, do they account for every last drop, or do they assume that part of the product will be lost during cooking (example: fat cooking off of meat). I have been keeping track of calories to lose weight, and I wonder how accurate my count really is when I base it on the information that is on food labels. Thanks! :)

I’m looking for a a progran that look up information on vinyl records via the UPC barcode on the jacket.?
My mother-in-law has 1000′s of old records that my late father-in-law collected over his life. We want to catalog them but going though each box record by record was too much and we ran out of time before they had to move. Now I want to try again but I want an easier solution. This way we can give potential buyers of the WHOLE collection an easier idea of what is in the collection or even the whole list.

I don’t think you can. The UPC code is just a unique number that assigned to a product. The barcode really doesn’t have any information about the product contained in it. It won’t tell you what the record is or what songs are on it. It The UPC code is entered into a computer and then the information, brand, price, product, etc, in entered into the computer and associated with the UPC. Using the barcode to keep track of the record collection is a good idea but you still need to manually enter the information.
