Is There A Feature on PHOTOSHOP that Can Make a Photo look like a BARCODE?

Best answer:

No, however, if you take a photo of a barcode and layer it with the photography you can blend the layering options in a screen mode or something like that. Then you can go in and just digitally remove the lines you do not want.

How can I look up my library card barcode number online?

How can I look up my library card barcode number online?
I can’t find my card right now, but I want to check whether I’ve got any books still due to be returned and want to do that from the comfort of my home computer, since the library is MILES from here. Web services or ideas that could help, anyone?

Best answer:

Find your library’s or library system’s website. (Depending on where you live and how unique its name is, this can be easy or surprisingly difficult.) With luck, it’ll have some clumsy (often CARL, long the cheapest library software) system which allows you to check your card account’s activity using the card’s number and your last name.

It should be able to tell you what items you have checked out, which are overdue and how long, and how much fine you owe, if any.

Is it ok to look at the bright light of a scanner when it's scanning a picture? Any health issues?

Is it ok to look at the bright light of a scanner when it’s scanning a picture? Any health issues?
1. I’m just concerned about my health. So, I don’t know if it’s a laser beam, but I kind of looked at it, when the scanning was going on. It was a really bright light. So, does this affect my eye in any way?

2. Also, I put my hand on the plate and scanned my palm. So, is it a good thing to do? Should I be concerned about my health?

My scanner is kind of like this >>>

Best answer:

There is not any more danger to this than looking at any other very bright light, or putting your hand in front of a flashlight.

I will purchase a laser printer soon. I need a fax too, should I look for a printer with a fax in it..?
or is it more common to use e-fax today so that a scanner is all I really need and a fax no longer required(?) I wanted your thought before purchasing this. it is for business purpose THANKS

Best answer:

Hi. There are many multi-functional printer-scanner-FAX-copiers out there. Seems like your best bet. Just a reference. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Multifunction_printer

Is there an easy (and quick) application to look up used book prices using my cell phone? (Alltel Axcess Web)?

December 31st, 2007 at 03:51pm Under Forum

Is there an easy (and quick) application to look up used book prices using my cell phone? (Alltel Axcess Web)?
I sell a lot of used books online and I want to be able to look up their selling prices quickly on my phone when I’m at a used book sale or garage sale. I have seen people at book sales who have actual portable scanners that they use to scan bar codes on books that tell them instantly how much the book will sell for online. So I have multiple questions:

1. Is there an easy way (or application) that I can use with my Alltel Samsung phone Axcess Web to accomplish this? I was able to look up prices by going to Amazon.com on my phone, but it was so tedious and it took so long that it’s almost not worth it.

2. Regarding the portable scanners I’ve seen people using at book sales, where can I buy one of these and how much will it cost (both for the scanner itself and monthly fees)? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Best answer:

This technology may be available through other companies, but I know that Nextel/Sprint has aggressively pursued this technology. As for other applications — I’m clueless. Alltel isn’t the strongest provider out there and doesn’t even provide service in my area (I don’t think).

how do you get excel to look up an isbn number and return title and author?

how do you get excel to look up an isbn number and return title and author?
we use barcode scanners to list our books for sale on amazon but when we are at a book fair we want to be able to scan books into excel and have it return the book title, author and other book information, but can’t work out how to do it!

it seams that practically everyone at the book fairs has this facility but i’ve not been able to find anyone willing to tell us how it works.

can anyone help?

obviously we’ve done lots of web searches for macros and that kind of thing but of course as soon as you put in isbn you get loads of results about excel books and how to write macros from pages where a book is listed with its isbn number.

looking forward to getting to the bottom of this if anyone has the solution

best regards

roger
a couple of useful responses so far, thanks, but not the answer i’m looking for. We have a couple of barcode scanners already and you just fire them at any book and they read the isbn and inseert it into whatvere is your active window, works great with isbndb.org and amazon etc and returns the book details on screen, but we dont have the list of all the books in the world to query in excel so somehow we need to make excel lookup the isbn on the internet and return the book data back into our spreadsheet automatically

Best answer:

VLOOKUP should work. Have you tried this? But Microsoft Access may be better for what you are doing.
