Excel Data Matrix Barcode: What is a FREE or open source data matrix image generator for Excel or Word?
Best answer:
If you’re only looking for an image based on the data you input, then there are quite a few online data matrix generators. One example is idautomation.com/java/dmservlet.html.
If you want a stand alone program, that’s a little harder. I have one that is free but comes without support. It was developed at my company many years ago and then put on the shelf. We’ve given it out to many people in the past with the stipulation that if you find something wrong with it we won’t fix it because it’s long retired now. It does work well. Creates a barcode and copies an image of the code to your clipboard. You can then paste it into another application.
If you want a copy of it contact me through one of my websites below.

Military ACU matrix barcode?
Anybody got any info on the Army Combat Uniform as a barcode? I don’t know this for sure, but it makes sense so that we can determine who is who on the field in imperfect visibility situations.
Best answer:
No they are not barcodes and even if they were, computer recognition requires an almost ideal line of sight…in other words, you could see a soldier wearing ACU before a computer could recognize him. And trust me, the order of the dots on the ACU uniforms are completely random (I checked). In fact, the reason why there is a square pattern on military uniforms is because this renders them harder to see with night vision devices.
Hope this helps

Looking for a Label Program that will work with a dot matrix printer?
I need a program that I can type in the information and print off 200-300 at a time. The labels we are using are pin fed, about 3″ x 5″, and we are using an Epson LX300 dot matrix printer. It also needs to be windows compatible, preferably with Windows 98 or XP.
Thanks

Classification of Data Matrix Scanners
About the Data Matrix Scanner
Data matrix scanner provides a wide range of barcode reading applications for the users. The device consists of a lens, a light source, and a light sensor that converts optical impulses into electrical impulses. All the barcode scanners are designed with decoder circuitry that analyzes the image data of barcode that are provided by the sensor and sends the content of the barcode to the output port of the scanner. By incorporating true contact reading and high resolution imaging technology, the data matrix scanner aid to the barcode reading application including poor printing and damaged barcodes or data matrix.
Types of Data Matrix Scanners
The scanning methods of data matrix scanners are differentiated by the amount of operation manipulation needed for the purpose. And, the types of scanners are distinguished by their technologies.
Pen Type Scanner: The pen type scanners are designed to swipe the pen over the code. The wave form generated by the dark bars and light bars are decoded by the scanner.
Laser Scanner: The laser scanners are developed with the same technology as the pen type scanners. However, they use a laser beam as the source of light and the back and forth of the laser beam across the bar code is scanned with either a rotating prism or a reciprocating mirror.
CCD Readers: This type of readers use array of tiny light sensors in the head of the reader. Unlike the Pen Type Scanners, CCD readers measure the emitted ambient light from the bar code.
Camera-Based Reader: This is another type of data matrix scanner that uses a small video camera to capture the images of a bar code.
Omni-Directional Barcode Scanners: Unlike the traditional barcode scanners, they produce a pattern of beams in changing operations that allow the device to read the barcodes at different angles.
The 2-D Barcode Scanner (how do i decode datamatrix barcodes?)
The 2D barcode scanners are advanced barcode reading devices that are able to decode the smaller and high density 2D barcodes. The device also stores the data in two dimensions instead of creating a series of black and white bars. The 2D barcode scanners are developed with both imaging and CCD technology to identify the 2D barcodes. Of late, the type of scanners is the newest genre of barcode scanners available. They can provide an advanced solution to barcode reading applications. The high resolution image technology also enables reading of poorly printed and even the damaged 2D barcodes.
2Dbarcode scanners are developed with the latest technology for most demanding applications. The versatile device can automatically distinguish between barcode and all major 2D symbologies. The device also sports timestamp feature. Most of the 2D barcode canners support mobile computers.
The 2D barcode scanner has advantage over the one dimensional barcode reader as it can decode the 2D barcodes. As the 2D barcode contain more information than the traditional barcodes, they are being used more frequently these day and they have almost replaced the 1D barcodes. Hence, the 2D barcode scanners are more functional with their advanced features.

The Dolphin 7900 from Honeywell (Formally HHP and Hand Held Products) provides similar functionality and reliability of the 9500 and 9550 models in a PDA-style design. The device features WiFi and Bluetooth wireless and GPS (Global Positioning System), making it ideal for route accounting and delivery applications. Optional GSM radio allows you to utilize GPRS or EDGE networks when used in a WWAN environment. This device is IP-64 rated and can operate in areas with a temperature of -20C.

Matrix Product?
Four models of one name brand “all in one fax, printer, copier, and scanner machine” are sold in three retail stores. The inventory of store i of model j is represented by sij in the matrix.
S = [ 16 10 8 12]
[ 12 0 10 4 ]
[ 4 12 0 8 ]
The wholesale and retail prices of model i are represented by pi1 and pi2 respectively, in the
matrix P = [ 0 9.99]
[ 5 9.99]
[ 5 9.99]
[ 0 9.99]
The matrix product SP tells us the wholesale and retail values of the inventory at all three stores.
a. true
b. false
Best answer:
a. true
when you multiply a 3 x 4 matrix with a 4 x 2 you get a 3 x 2
step 1 multiply the 1st row by the first col. and add
16×180 + 10X275 + 8X355 + 12X590 so its the inventory time the wholesale price.
Then mult. 1st row by 2nd col
16×269.99 + 10X399.99 + 8X499.99 + 12X799.99 so its the inventory time the retail price for the first store.
continue for the 2nd store and 3rd.

How do I print USPS barcodes on a Microline 320 dot matrix printer?
Does anyone now how to print postnet barcodes on a microline 320 dot matrix printer?
Best answer:
I really don’t know exactly what you are asking, but I will give it a try.
USPS does not want the general public to start printing barcodes on their mail. The reason being is that we require mailers that are claiming a discounted rate of postage to use very specialized software for generating their addressing. It is called CASS Certified.
For the average home user, the software is far too expensive, and requires updating every 2 months, which can also be quite expensive. CASS performs an address matching function. This determines that the elements of the address match each other and also appear in the USPS databases so that they can be Delivery Point Barcoded.
At this point in time the Postnet DPBC is the minimum you need to claim an automated rate.
This whole thing just isn’t practical for the average person to use.

Data Matrix (2D barcode) decoding… Anyone know of an easy or accessible approach to decoding them?
Best answer:
You may want to just buy a component that will do that for you and interface with it in your application.
blackice.com/barcodeDataMatrix2DRead.htm
They even include example code for your use that would resolve the issue the other answer here raised. They would give you all the code needed to determine what format it’s in.
Not all barcodes are read from paper you know? They could be from stored files or incoming messages (PDFs or similar).

How to include 2D Barcode (Data Matrix) into Microsoft Excel?
For normal line Barcode, I know we can get 3 of 9 barcode font and formula the cell, exp: =”*”&A1&”*”. But how can i do it for2D Barcode?
Best answer:
You can draw it in Paint and insert it as an image. I am not sure if you need any inteligence to it.
