How do I make scannable UPC bar codes for 2 and 3 digit codes? What type would I use?
I work at a convenience store, and wanted to make scannable barcodes for the items that don’t have UPCs on them such as newspapers, gasoline, etc to help out the employees who have a hard time remembering the codes. Like 68 is for gas, 66 for a newspaper, 103 for a lotto ticket. I wanted to keep them at the register to make checkout a little quicker.

Best answer:

The bar code scanner is expecting a UPC code longer than 3 digits, so one you make wouldn’t be likely to scan.

Using an inkjet printer, how can I print a coupon with a barcode that will be scannable at the register?

I get printable coupons from Blockbuster Online, but the only way I can print them so that Blockbuster can scan them at their registers is if I find a public laser printer to print them off.

I have an inkjet printer and it prints UPC codes just fine. You may have to download a coupon printer program from the site you are getting coupons from. Go to BettyCrocker.com, you may be able to download one from there as well as get grocery coupons. Good Luck!
