Please help me understand this: THE POST-INDUSTRIAL SIMULACRE?
It has been some decades since Western culture could be accurately described as Industrial. Since the under-consumption crisis of the Thirties, we have shifted entirely into a social structure dominated not by production but by reproduction, not by equivalence but by commutation, not by merchandise but by the model. We live in a post-industrial world. A world no longer where all labor is exchanged and loses its singularity but where labor and leisure become entwined. Not a culture bought and sold but one where all cultures simulate one another. Not a place where love is prostituted but where a liberated keel sexuality is compulsory. And an era in which time is no longer accumulated like money but is broken in a confused web of nostalgia,
fetishism and futurism.

If the industrial era was determined capitalist mode, then the post-industrial is hypercapitalist. And in the sphere of signs the society has become indeterminate and codified. In the pre-industrial era every sign had a corresponding reality. In the industrial, every sign became equivalent to all others with money as the mode of social coherence. Now, however, all signs have become models, slightly differentiating all social reproduction – a generalized code of simulation. The real horror is that this process no longer stops at the factory gate but penetrates our homes, our loves and our minds. All our time becomes marked time…

Where can I buy this teddy bear?
I am looking for this specific teddy bear to buy for my little girl. http://www.flickr.com/photos/54499767@N07/5045827229/ She already has one; it’s just that its old and somewhat torn. It does have a nose and it doesn’t have that headband. It is about 1 feet tall, but that is just my guess on its height. Does anyone know where I can buy this specific teddy bear? Please don’t give me links for where I can search for it. A link that leads me directly to where it can be found would be helpful. That bear in the picture was bought in Walgreens if that helps. I talked to the people there and they said they needed a upc code or something.
Sorry Crit, but that is not what I am looking for. I saw it in Walgreens last year and remember it clearly. It had a bigger head and shorter legs. Can you find anything that matches the picture more?
Sorry Kaity, but its purple, not pink. It is also not how it looks like from the last time i found one in walgreens. The last time I saw it in walgreens was when I found it somewhere in the back hanging in the corner of a shelf. It had a pretty flat forehead reflecting light from the ceiling. I don’t think sewing would help because it looks too worn out from top to bottom to make much of a difference.
@Zombie No, not 6 inches, it was about a foot tall sitting down and over a foot standing up. It can’t be 2 feet though.
Oh oops, sorry. I can’t really tell how tall it was. Looking at my ruler, it’s under a foot tall sitting and maybe a foot tall standing. It definitely isn’t 6 inches from head to toe though.

My pc has LabelFlash for burning labels onto CD,DVD but I can’t find any anywhere on this planet. H-E-L-P !!!!?
LabelFlash brand technology is on Gateway pcs for burning labels direct to CD or DVD. I want to know if you can use any brand printable CD using LabelFlash or does it exclusively have to be a LabelFlash CD or DVD? Many other brands (pcs) use LightScribe for printing labels direct to CD,DVD from inside the pc or laptop but its exclusive to only their pcs. Contacted Gateway and the “techies” didn’t have an answer. Please, someone that knows, help me on this one. Can I use any printable CD with LabelFlash or does it have to be that particular brand of printable CD,DVD ?

What does this Muni fare ticket indicate?
Here is a sample fare receipt/transfer ticket given by a Muni driver. To those who live in the Bay Area, there are many types of bus lines. As I know, Ac transit offer ticket w/ actual times by using a computer to print the time and w/ a soft of barcode or black line that indicates if it’s expired or not. But in Munis, the bus drivers only rips them off a pad so the time is not really indicated on it. So, how will THEY (drivers) know if it has expired already?

anyone see where the time is indicated? there’s no barcode of some sort nor does it say what time the person FIRST boarded when he/she got the ticket.

What fish is this? Help please! Transparent yellow and black stripes!?
It is yellow with black stripes, and the yellow stripes are slightly transparent, and I can see it’s insides through the yellow stripes.
It stays at the bottom of the tank, hardly moving. All of the fishes of the breed behaves the same way. It is very small in size.
In the fish shop, it was labelled (mistakenly) as a bumble bee fish.

The stripes are vertical on the fish, and it is normal behaviour for it to always stay at the bottom of the tank..
The yellow stripes are see-through.
