no warranty and red ring of death on Xbox 360. Switch barcode?
I have an Xbox 360 that I bought off of a friend who got it god knows where. Either way it got the red ring of death and it has been registered already. Can i switch the back barcode of an Xbox that has a warranty onto mine and send it in? would that work?

Best answer:

nope. like a in a car the serial wud be on the inside somewhere. if they notice that the numbers are different. they’ll void your warranty for tampering.

i rented a game from hollywood video yesterday and the sticker with the bar code got stuck in my xbox?
what should i do? should i open up my xbox and get it out, or should i just tell the people at hollywood video what happened? will it mess up my xbox? please helpppp

Best answer:

I personally would take it to them and explain what happened if your Xbox is not under warranty and make them pay to have it removed by Microsoft. If it is under warranty just call Xbox and send it for repairs.

Also drop the video store and sign up for gamefly. I am on the 2 game plan and it is still cheaper than all the local stores.

I just sold some unopened games that came with an Xbox 360, what should I do about the bar code?

I just sold some unopened games that came with an Xbox 360, what should I do about the bar code?
I recently purchased an Xbox 360 and it came with two games, Kung Fu Panda and Indiana Jones: The Original Adventures. I decided to sell them on Ebay (and they went quickly) and am wondering, should I cross out the bar code on the side of the games? They’ve never been opened, and I know there are certain times when one should cross out bar codes; is this one of them? Thanks.

Are you talking about the certificate of authenticity thing on the seal? If you are, I can’t even think why you would want to.

How do I find out which one of my Xbox 360 controllers is the one that came with my Xbox 360 system?

How do I find out which one of my Xbox 360 controllers is the one that came with my Xbox 360 system?
I have 2 controllers and one is broken and I want to know if i can send it in under the warranty of my Xbox system. Is there a barcode or something that I can compare to my system or the box my system came in?

Best answer:

first, im not sure if you can send back a controller to microsoft… but what the heck i dunno.

as for what kind of controller you have… there have only been two different kinds.

the first one had the old matrix circuitboard
the second is the new cg circuitboard.

now im doing this from memory so bear with me… if you take out the battery back you can actually see the green circuitboard on the back of the controller. it should be covered in little tiny letters and numbers. if you see t19 then its old matrix board.

its a pretty safe bet tho if u bought ur 360 more than a year and a half ago then ur controller has matrix board. if you recently bought the other controller then its prolly cg. just look for that T19.

hope this helps!

Is it possible to figure out what your XBOX 360 serial number from the barcode on the box?

Is it possible to figure out what your XBOX 360 serial number from the barcode on the box?
Some low-life broke into my house and stole my XBOX 360 and all of my games. I need the serial number if I’m going to have any hope of tracking it down. I still have the box and I know when you go to the store to return it they scan both the box and the console to match them up. Is it possible to tell what my serial number was just from the barcode on the box? Thanks for any help anyone can send me.

Best answer:

if you take it to the store and they scan the box, they have the serial number in their system. when i bought my xbox, the guy had to put the serial number in the system when he sold it to me. so it’s in the store’s system.

XBox 360 Games PAL Or NTSC****************?

XBox 360 Games PAL Or NTSC****************?
Hey. I recently got an xbox 360 and i know almost nothing about the came codes like PAL and NTSC all i know all three games that i have are PAL but some PAL don’t work just loke some NTSC which is a bit weird cause everytime they say there is a disc region code error. I got my xbox 360 from a reliable source in a really good electronics shop and i didn’t modify it. I am a bit confused, do u think u can help me…… on the cover it says the following:

XBOX 360 PRO SYSTEM VALUE BUNDLE
2008 ENGLISH SINGAPORE HDWR NTSC-J

It says exactly that under the barcode and there is a print on the cover that says created by XBOX Microsoft but i don’t know if it is fake or not. It does say also:

XBOX 360 PRO SYSTEM EN/ZH HK/SINGAPORE HD
CONSOLE, HEADSET, GAME PAD; MADE IN CHINA

FOR DISTRIBUTION IN HK/SINGAPORE

I got it with two games that are NTSC-J and they work fine, pls help

Best answer:

NTSC and PAL are just broadcasting standards for different countries. North America uses NTSC while Europe uses PAL. Japan uses NTSC-J.

Since you have a 360 that plays NTSC-J disks, you need to buy games that says NTSC-J. It will not work with other formats, like NTSC and PAL.

Best answer:

Just tell hollywood video what happened (that way if it screws up your xbox they may have to buy you a new one :P) haha, as long as your xbox still reads other games there is nothing to worry about, if you can see the sticker by all means try to pull it out, use tweasers or electrical pliers. If later down the road you have a hard time reading games, it would be best to take your xbox apart, take the DVD drive cover off and take the sticker out, while there you can clear the dust out and use window cleaner or rubbing alcohol to clean the lens (you’ll most likely have to do this anyways down the road)

Enjoy

How can I know if my new Xbox 360 has the new chips in it (like, what is the new barcode, etc.)?

How can I know if my new Xbox 360 has the new chips in it (like, what is the new barcode, etc.)?
I just bought a new Xbox 360 Pro bundle from Sam’s Club and am wondering if there’s any way to know if this system has the new chips/motherboard in it. I really don’t want to have to deal with the red rings. Thanks for your help!

Best answer:

You don’t know for sure. I would call Microsoft.
